BEC Beach Bonfire

We will celebrate the coming of summer at the annual bonfire at Corona del Mar on Wed. June 23 evening. Plan to spend one last evening with us before we say good bye to the seniors and become the UHS Music Department of 2010-2011. Parent chaperons are needed, please sign up at www.mysignup.com/unibeachparty if you are available to help.

Jazz Improvisation Classes

Attached are two fliers for jazz improvisation classes offered by Jay Mason over the summer.  Mr. Mason is the Director of Saxophone Studies at CSU Long Beach, the bari sax player for the Gordon Goodwin Big Phat Band, and all around nice guy.  He lives right around the corner from Uni and is very supportive of our program and gives lessons to several of our students.  If anyone is interested in improving their improv skills for jazz next year, this is the opportunity for you.

Also, fliers are available in the band room for the Barry Perkins Trumpet Academy that will take place this summer.  He is a great player and a great teacher.  If you’re planning on building your chops this summer for marching band, this experience focuses on strength and technical ability.
