Seiji Saisho, Drum Major Hey I’m Seiji Saisho and I’m your drum major for the 2009 marching season. I’ve played clarinet for 7 years and piano for about 12 years. I’ve been in marching band since freshmen year, and it’s been an absolutely amazing experience. Besides band, I’m in the ASB as the Co Fine Arts Liaison. I enjoy playing basketball, hanging out with friends, mbfling, and eating. To me, music has been one of the most, if not, the most essential part of my high school career. I believe that marching band is a truly unique experience that combines athleticism, musicality, endurance, and discipline, and as a drum major I hope each individual marcher has an awesome experience in marching band this year. Roger Wu Fu, Assistant Drum Major Hey ya'll, I'm Roger Wu Fu, your Assistant Drum Major for your 2009-2010 marching season. My musical experience at UNI is a bit odd. I played sousaphone for my first 2 years, but last year I switched to marching baritone, easily the best decision I've made. However, for Wind Ensemble, I play tuba (about 5 years). Like Seiji, I play some piano, but his 12 years owns my measly 6.5 years. I also enjoy playing a variety of other instruments, but rather than paint a conceited picture of myself, I'll just stop it here. Other non-musically related activities I like doing include playing basketball..and uh.. yeah (don't get me wrong, I definitely enjoy doing things OTHER than basketball). However, my philosophy is that music can be found everywhere in life, and by truly understanding its power and influence on the human spirit, we can learn to better ourselves both mentally and physically, in every field of the human body. It is my sincere wish to share this philosophy with you all, and to hopefully shed some light on the might and magnificence of the arts. I look forward to meeting you all and dominating every other band in Southern California! Lastly, because I will probably be beat up by a couple of fellas for not including this, mbfl.
Janet Lee, Flute Section Leader Hi my name is Janet Lee, and I'm going to be one of the flute section leaders. Xiteng Yan, Flute Section Leader Hello everyone, my name is Xiteng, and I'm one of of the Flute Section Leaders. I've been playing flute since forever, and I've been in Band since it became in option in fifth grade (before that I had to suffer through Choir). I've been in Marching Band since freshmen year, and it has definitely been the most "unique" experience I have ever had. The people you meet here are some of the brightest (and weirdest) people in the entire campus. To describe myself, I'm extremely sarcastic. If I say something harsh, I usually don't mean it. Not to the fullest extent, at least. If you ever need help on anything or have a random question, feel free to come find me. I'm usually in or around the Bandroom eating/sleeping/practicing/doing homework. Trust me, I'm not that terrifying ;].
Eugene Lee, Clarinet Section Leader Hi everybody, I am Eugene Lee. I love clarinet and marching band, and band in general. I'm very friendly and I love meeting new people, so if you ever want to talk, or need someone to talk to, you can find me eating my sushi at the band room during lunch! 1~3 I am also a clarinet section leader. Love band, love music, remember to practice. That is how you can become good at your instrument. Much love UHS band<3~!~!~!~ Hope Xu, Clarinet Section Leader RAWRRR :)
Xiafei Zhang, Saxophone Section Leader |place paragraph here|

Oh and one last thing Trumpets are the best instrument ever made.... "the only instrument always playing in tune is the trumpet....thats y they all jealous of us" - Wynton marsalis Anto Park, Assistant Trumpet Section Leader Hello, my name is Anto Park! I'll be your assistant trumpet section leader for this year! I've been in band for a year and I've also played trumpet for a year. In my free time, I enjoy running, practicing or just talking to people. I'm not very tall and/or mean-looking, so feel free to go up and talk to me. :]] If you don't come up and talk to me, I can guarantee that I'll go up to you and start talking. If I had a super power, it'd probably be my lactose intolerancy which abruptly grew in strength during the last couple years. Oh and another thing I enjoy very much is asian board games; things like Shogi, Mahjong, and Go/Baduk! So if you know how to play any of those, we should play sometimes; or if you want to learn, you can ask me! If you ever need to talk to me or find me during any time, I'm usually at my second home, the band room! And as a side note, if any of you freshman need a community service club and can make paper cranes, come talk to me! :]]
Jessica Lee, Mellophone Section Leader Hello, my name is Jessica Lee and I’m a senior. I’ll be your mellophone section leader for this year! In case you’re wondering what a mellophone is, it’s basically a marching French horn. Mellophone players play French horn during the concert band seasons and when it’s time for marching band, we take out our mellophones.
Youngbae Chee, Low Brass Section Leader Hey guys my name is Youngbae Chee, and I’m your low brass section leader. I’m a junior, and I have been in marching band ever since my freshman year, and loving it. I love music, not only just listening to it but also playing it as well. I like to try out different instruments, and that is how I tried the trombone in 7th grade. I march trombone in the marching band, but I play the clarinet in Wind Ensemble. I enjoy playing basketball with friends, or just hanging out, sleeping, and of course playing music. The low brass section is going to beat all the other sections, so don’t feel bad when you lose, it happens all the time. And one last thing MBFL!!!!!
Alexander Liao, Sousaphone Section Leader Hey, I'm Alex Liao, sousa section leader and senior. I've been in band since freshman year and love it. Music in general is amazing, hahah. I like to try instruments too even though I probably shouldn't? But who cares, it's all music and it's fun. I play lacrosse and basketball - but like. for fun though, not legitly. ASB is another big thing, it's wonderful (go class of 2010) and balancing ASB and band IS possible :D even council and band too! Haha. So if anyone reading this is interested, go for it. It's a crazy experience balancing it all out. But hey - if you ever want to talk, need to talk, want to randomly say things, hit me up any time any way. On the field I'll be carrying the huge metal horn, off the field I'll be running around and just hanging out with friends, usually by the band room.
Jessica Walker, Drumline Captain Hi, I'm Jessica Walker and I'm the drumline captain this year. I'm the deaf girl with curly hair. (You'll probably learn how to sign something by the end of the year.) I love being with the people I love, doing things I love, and I LOVE DRUMLINE! Go Uni!
Patrick Wu, Pit Captain Hi everyone! My name is Patrick Wu, and I’m required to write a little about myself, but I’m so bad at that. I’m going to be a senior next year. This will be my fourth year in band, my fourth year in pit, and my second year as pit captain. Other than practicing, I read, use Facebook, play Starcraft, program various projects, watch anime (HARUHI = WIN), and play piano. I look forward to meeting all of you, and if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me anything!
Renita Priya, Colorguard Captain Hi! I’m Renita and I am the colorguard captain! I have been on colorguard since my freshman year, and I have had an absolute blast. The best thing about colorguard is that we get to spin, hang out with the fun-est (I don’t care if it isn’t a word) people ever, and go to Disneyland. I love spinning sabre (even though I get hurt every time I pick it up), wearing crazy make-up, going to competitions, and just riding on the bus with the band. Besides colorguard, the one thing I love the most is Disney. I’m probably the biggest Disney freak ever. My favorite movie ever is The Little Mermaid, and my favorite place in the world (besides the guard room) is Disneyland, after all, it is the happiest place on earth. I’m super excited about this year; I know it’s going to be great! Go Guard! (remember, it IS a sport) |
