Mr. Corey Heddon, Music Director

Corey Heddon grew up in Lakewood, California. He began studying music at the age of five when he began playing the piano.  Throughout high school, he played several instruments in the school’s marching band – finding his niche with brass instruments.  His affinity for marching band led him to drum and bugle corps where he marched in the Santa Clara Vanguard A Corps from 2004-2005. During his age out year in 2005, he was the Baritone section leader and won the DCI Individual and Ensemble competition in the Solo Baritone category.  He has since been active as a visual instructor, show designer, and brass specialist in several Southern California schools.  Mr. Heddon was on the instructional staff for the Santa Clara Vanguard for the 2009 season as their baritone technician.

Mrs. Jennifer Gohn, Music Director

Mrs. Gohn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education from the University of Southern California (2001), where she was a member of the Trojan Marching Band and studied saxophone with Mr. James Rötter (Pacific Symphony Orchestra and Los Angeles Philharmonic). 
She received her teaching credential from California State University Fullerton (2003), where she was a member of the Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble under the direction of Dr. Mitchell Fennell.  She received her Masters in Conducting from the American Band College (2008), where she studied with many of the top names in school band music today (i.e., Patrick Sheridan, Dr. Tim Lautzenheiser, Frank Ticheli, Ralph Hultgren, David Holsinger, Johan de Meij, Robert W. Smith, etc.). 
Mrs. Gohn’s prior teaching experiences include 1.5 years of student teaching in the Montebello and Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School Districts, 3 years of service in the Alta Loma School District and 2 years of service in the Norwalk-La Mirada Unified School District.  Mrs. Gohn has been the Orchestra Director and Assistant Band Director at University High School since 2008. Aside from teaching, Mrs. Gohn played alto saxophone with the Orange County Wind Symphony under Mr. Anthony Parnther and is an active member of the Claremont Winds under the direction of Dr. Anthony Mazzaferro.
