MTR (Marching Trojan Regiments)

PARENT VOLUNTEERS NEEDED for Football Games and Field Tournament

There are still quite some empty spaces on the sign-up pages: www.mysignup.com/unibandgames for all the games and www.mysignup.com/unibandfieldshows for all the field tournaments (all three are on Saturdays). If all the boxes are taken for the day that you would like to help, you are still welcome to join the plume team, help with the boosters table, or move the pit equipments to the stadium. There is never a case with too many volunteers J Any question, please contact our VP-Activities, Diane Geller, at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. REHEARSALS This Week

Monday: 3:00-4:30

Tuesday: 3:00-4:30

Wednesday: 2:15-4:00 (Office Hour Rehearsal – please see the details below)

Thursday: 3:15-4:30

Friday: 3:00-4:30

Saturday 10/17: Call Time 5:00pm - Home Game against San Juan Hills High at Irvine Stadium

Wednesday Office Hours, Oct 14

We will be holding rehearsal during office hours on Wednesday of this week.  It will be a drill only rehearsal, so don’t worry about getting your instrument, just come to the field.  Make sure to have you coordinate sheets ready as we will be cleaning the show and doing a visual run.  We will be taking attendance as this is a required rehearsal.  Please speak to your other teachers about rescheduling any work during office hours.  This will not become a normal practice so please understand that band is a class and rarely requires office hour time.  There will be only one other day like this.  This is a great opportunity to focus entirely on the visual aspect of our show. --- Mr. Heddon

Home Football Game Saturday, Oct 17

Call time will be 5:00.  Be sure to show up wearing your shorts and black t-shirt.  Reminder: denim jean shorts are NOT acceptable to wear underneath your uniform.  Great job at the last game on getting out of the school early!  Let’s do it again.  Our goal is to have no one be late to call time and to have no one forget anything.  --- Mr. Heddon

Students: Since it is on a Saturday, please eat a full meal before you come. The boosters will prepare water for everyone, but there won’t be any snacks.

Parents: we need more help moving the PIT equipment at Irvine Stadium. The few bus chaperones have been helping to move the PIT instruments in the past two games, and it has been taking a lot of trips for them & the students to go back & forth. It will be much appreciated if you can lend a helping hand. Please come to the stadium parking lot around 5:45-6:00. It is Irvine High's rear parking lot at Escolar street. You should see the yellow Penske truck parked close to the side walk (towards the end of parking lot) leading to the stadium. The students will unload the instruments; just follow the students & help them move the equipment (most have wheels) to the stadium. It will probably take about 15 minutes. You can leave after the moving is done, or stay to watch the game (you will not need to pay for the entrance fee since you are a band volunteer). This job is not listed on the signup page for football games, so if you have any questions, please email Annie at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Band Photo, Thursday, Oct 22

Our band photo is being taken on October 22 during the rehearsal time.  Forms to order band photos are available from Mr. Heddon.

Irvine Invitational Field Tournament:  Saturday, October 24

Our first competition is quickly approaching.  We still have not been told our performance time but we are pretty sure it will be in the late afternoon to early evening.  On competition days we meet at Uni in the afternoon to do a rehearsal to make sure we are focused and ready for this important event.  We only participate in 3 competitions a year and we all put in so much time, effort, and talent that we must make the most out of these days.  Please make sure that you plan accordingly to be on time to rehearsal and to take care of all other responsibilities so you can be focused and ready to do your best.  Parents are highly encouraged to participate by coming to the tournament.  Judges really do notice when the parents show up to cheer for their ensembles.  It shows that there is a strong commitment to what the students are doing and will shed a positive and confident light on the field. Since it is so close to home, we should have the largest cheering section in the stands. --- Mr. Heddon
